Staff positions
Counselor - Calumet Center for Healing and Attachment
New Ventures is seeking a Program Counselor for our Calumet Center for Healing & Attachment division. This position provides mental health counseling services to New Ventures agencies and other agencies as directed by management.
Essential duties and responsibilities will be discussed in greater detail in the interview setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual and group therapy to CCHA residential and outreach clients.
- Monitor and review client intakes, treatment plans, terminations, and client transfers with the CCHA Staff.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation for clients and interns.
- Coordinate case reviews with counseling interns and other staff members.
- Conduct weekly treatment meetings to review client progress and address areas of concern.
- Interview and supervise interns daily providing guidance from the clinical supervisor.
- Assist with assessments and other items for interns’ graduate programs.
- Provide evidence of current malpractice insurance and up to date license.
- Provide crisis management support during workday, weekends, and after business hours. During mental health crisis involving a resident of CCHA, residents will be referred to the following places in the listed order:
- Nearest hospital emergency room
- nearest inpatient public mental health hospital.
- Accept referrals for individual and group therapy.
- Monitor and review client intakes, terminations, and client transfer by sharing non-confidential information to Senior Leadership to provide better service insight to their clients.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation for clients.
- Conduct weekly treatment team meetings for review of client progress and address areas of concern.
- Provide evidence of current malpractice insurance and up to date licensure.
- Provide crisis management support. During a mental health crisis involving a client after business hours or on weekends, clients will be referred to the following places in the listed order:
- nearest hospital emergency room
- nearest inpatient public mental health hospital.
- When possible, attend community outreach events held by CCHA, NVI, NVE, and partnering organizations to maintain and build community relationships.
- Maintain and stay up to date with CARF standards for program accreditation
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a Master of Science (M.S.) / Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP-accredited university program.
- Appropriate licensure per the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists
- Knowledge of disadvantaged populations and workplace accommodations
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to work well with others and to work independently.

Textile Cutter
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
DUTIES
Specialty Rugs: these are area rugs used in people’s homes.
- Roll the carpet out on the air table.
- Find the rug in the customer’s book; look at that picture to ensure that picture matches the rug.
- If the picture matches:
- Cut the rug by the markings on the rug.
- Throw the carpet excess in a scrap box at end of air table.
- Slide the rug to the Sewer/Mechanic.
- If the picture does not match:
- Cut the rug with the markings on it.
- Push it to the side of the air table – do not sew. Call Production Manager.
Cove Base: this is used mainly in commercial buildings along the base of the wall to prevent scruff marks on the walls.
- Read the purchase order to determine carpet style, specifications, dimensions, etc. to cut the carpet.
- Use a handheld cutter to trim the webbing off the side of the carpet.
- Roll it out to the mark on the table for 25 feet.
- Cut it at the 25-foot mark.
- Move the roll of carpet to the side to cut a strip.
- Use the large, powered carpet cutter, checking the cutting disc is set to the width on the purchase order.
- Cut the carpet into strips based on the customer order; strip width varies by product and customer.
- Strips must be cut straight. If not, call Production Manager immediately.
- Customer goes by number of rolls.
Additional Cove Base Product:
- Does not require a specific length. 35 – 40 feet is the normal length.
- Move the roll of carpet to the side to cut a strip.
- Use the large, powered carpet cutter, leave four cutting discs and remove the others so that you are cutting two strips at one time.
- Cut the carpet into strips based on the customer order; strip length varies by product and customer.
- Strips must be cut straight. If not, call Production Manager immediately.
- Customer goes by number of feet.
- For all cuts, count strips as you are cutting to ensure the purchase order quantity is met.
- Maintain housekeeping
- Comply with safety rules.
- Comply with environmental regulations.
- Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to read specifications and dimensions on carpet labels.
- Ability to work with fractions
- Ability to cut straight and to determine neatness of product.
- Ability to use a handheld blade to cut carpet, cove base, etc. through approximately ¼ inch thick carpet backing.
- Must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
- Ability to crawl and work on your knees for most of the shift.
- Ability to operate an electric carpet cutter (Self-propelled equipment) using precision cutting to ensure straight cuts of carpet.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to work successfully with others and independently.
- Ability to self- pace based on material produced.
- Ability to push rolls of carpet weighing approximately 80 lbs.

Textiles Sewer and Textiles Mechanic
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm
New Ventures sews the edges of area rugs which is referred to as serging. An industrial sewing machine is used to sew, and this position is responsible for sewing and the maintenance of that machine.
Other sewing machines are used to sew cove base, which is unbacked carpet used in many commercial spaces at the base of walls to prevent scuffing, scraping, etc. This position is also responsible for the machine maintenance and for sewing the cove base.
Essential Duties are provided below:
Sewing Area Rugs:
- Serge/sew edges of the area rugs to prevent unraveling.
- Check the stitches to ensure correct spacing and tightness.
- Ensure thread and yarn are sewing correct stitches in appearance and length.
- Serge/sew over the first inch or so to ensure the yarn does not pull loose.
- An Air Table allows easy movement of the rug from the work station to the end of the table for rolling on a long cardboard tube.
- Change out thread and yarn for the needles and loopers.
Sewing Cove Base:
- Using regular sewing machine, sew binding along the edge of the carpet.
- Adjust stitches if skips occur in the sewing process.
Machine Maintenance:
- Repairing serger and sewing machines for basic needs such as blowing out the areas that fabric clings to, replacing needles and loopers, and eventually tearing down and rebuilding the machines.
Sewing Tote bags and wine bags:
- Lay the pattern on the carpet and cut using handheld scissors.
- Cut the lining using the same process.
- Using a regular sewing machine, sew the bag and then insert the liner into the bag and sew the two together.
- Cut nylon strap for the handles and sew to the bag.
- Turn the bag inside out so the carpet is on the outside.
- Design and sew new product suggestions based on customer’s needs.
Sewing Hospitality blankets:
- Lay the pattern for the blanket on the unbacked carpet and cut.
- Lay the pattern for the liner on the fabric and cut.
- Sew the unbacked carpet and liner together leaving a small opening to turn the item right side out.
- Using a regular sewing machine, sew the hole so that the stitches match.
- Once item is sown, use a 4 lb. mallet to beat the carpet to lay flat.
Requirements and Preferences:
- Technical thought process to determine machine repairs.
- Maintenance experience on cars, equipment, etc. is preferred.
- Ability to focus for extended periods of time when performing maintenance and/or rebuilding machines.
- Experience sewing various fabric types is preferred.
- Accuracy for cutting, measuring, and sewing.
- Accurate reading of rulers and/or yardsticks.
- Ability to:
- consistently pound the carpet with a 4-pound mallet.
- sit for extended periods of time while sewing.
- stand for extended periods of time while cutting and working to make blankets lay flat.
- Visual inspect products to determine if carpet fits the pattern, to read orders, and compare the work to the order requirements.

Janitorial Employee
HOURS: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 6 pm to 9 or 10 pm.
Must be willing & able to work other days & times.
Duties:
Will perform Janitorial duties and sanitizing duties to meet the customer’s requirements:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum various floor types.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, lobby, handrails, stairwell banisters, and breakroom on 3 floors.
- Elevator is available to access 2nd and 3rd
- Ramps are also available to access 2nd and 3rd
- Spot-clean baseboards for marks, smudges, etc.
- Clean mirrors and glass surfaces.
- Pull trash and refill cans with trash liners.
- Restock paper products such as paper towels and toilet tissue.
- Restock hand soap dispensers.
Monthly duties that will be scheduled by Supervisor include:
- Deep scrub restroom tile grout.
- Deep mop all hard flooring.
- Inspect and clean floor drains.
- Inspect and clean stairwell treads and risers.
- Clean the exterior of HVAC/air return vent covers (hallways and restrooms)
- Deep clean restroom exhaust vents and fan covers.
- Clean and disinfect water fountains.
Requirements:
- Submit to and pass a GCIC background check and a level 10 drug screen.
- Not previously enrolled in New Ventures training within preceding 12 months
- Reliable transportation
- Lifting to 50 lbs.
